Three daughters

Definition

An expression showing the rule for counting feminine nouns from 3-10, where the number takes the masculine form and the noun is in the genitive plural.

Examples

فِي بَيْتِنَا ثَلَاثُ بَنَاتٍ.

In our house, there are three daughters.

رَأَيْتُ ثَلَاثَ بَنَاتٍ يَلْعَبْنَ.

I saw three daughters playing.

An expression for 'six women'. Note that نِسَاء is an irregular plural for اِمْرَأَة.

Definition

An expression for 'seven minutes'. The noun is in the genitive but does not take kasra as it is a diptote (مَمْنُوع مِنَ الصَّرْفِ).

Examples

I waited for seven minutes.

الْفَصْلُ يَبْدَأُ بَعْدَ سَبْعِ دَقَائِقَ.
